Description
The Data Imaginary catalogue was created to accompany the Griffith Art Museum’s exhibition of the same name. The exhibition explored how creative uses of data, statistics, and technology can contribute to a sustainable future. The catalogue included essays, details of the exhibited works, and artist biographies. This project served as a capstone for my time at Liveworm Studios and university, pushing me to apply and refine the design skills I developed during my degree.
Design Direction
The catalogue was designed to guide viewers through the individual artworks showcased in the exhibition. This intent shaped my approach, prioritizing the artists’ work as the focal point of each page, with graphical elements playing a supporting role. The extensive content required creative structuring to fit within the allocated pages.
To align with the exhibition’s theme of exploring new technologies, we collaborated with the organisers to incorporate a newly released fluorescent pink ink from FujiFilm. This vibrant pink became a key element of the colour palette, driving the catalogue's visual aesthetic. Balancing the brightness of the pink was an enjoyable challenge, adding flair without overpowering the overall design.
